Lock and key making is a craft that dates back to almost four thousand years. All known ancient civilisations have produced ingeneous locking systems. Locks are like puzzles, and  the possibilities are endless. 

Featured here are some antique locks, mainly Indian in origin, that show great ingenuity and creativity in the use of material and form. It is indeed fascinating how a utilitarian object turns into a work of art when it goes beyond the boundaries of mere function.

These characters were created based on the artist’s co workers.... seemingly opposites of each other. But actually, there is a bit of each in all of us, and together they create the stability much needed in our everyday life. Both express much more than positivity or negativity....... The pessimist doll features droopy eyes, while the optimist has a big smile, but both feature bendable arms that can exclaim in joy or lower in frown. Whether you are one, or the other, both express the possibility of change of perception, depending on your state of mind.  

Hans Bolling is an artist, advertising designer,  architect who has designed a plethora of art works ranging from dolls and furniture to villas, living complexes and town halls.
